1. Wood: I took a picture of a fence post when I was out on a photo shoot yesterday and used this for the text I created. I put a drop shadow on the text, beveled and embossed it and also added an outer glow. I really like the way this turned out.

2. Winter: 11/22/07; 2:45 p.m.; Banff, AB, Canada; f4.0; 1/250; FinePix F10.

I though this picture was a nice open shot and would look good with a little text added to it. I created this in Photoshop with the test tool and added a bevel and emboss to it. I also placed a drop shadow and outer glow on the text.

3. California Beach: 8/15/06; 7:15 p.m.; Santa Cruz, CA; f7.1; 1/320; FinePix F10.

I also created this one in Photoshop by adding a couple of different text layers. The words are repeated. I reduced the opacities of the text so they were not so strong. I also added a mask and faded out some of the text in the main parts of the picture I wanted to show through.

Landscape & Still Life

1. Water: 9/25/09; 7 p.m.; Beaver Dick River; f5.0; 1/200; FinePix F10; -1 Exposure Compensation.

2. Fenced Field: 9/25/09; 6:50 p.m.; Rexburg, ID; f5.0; 1/160; FinePix F10.

3. Trucks: 9/25/09; 6:45 p.m.; Rexburg, ID; f5.0; 1/320; FinePix F10.

4. Banff: 11/22/07; 2:40 p.m.; Banff, AB; f5.6; 1/640; FinePix F10.

5. Sun Set: 9/25/09; 6:35 p.m.; Rexburg, ID; f4.0; 1/320; FinePix F10; -1 Exposure Compensation.

For these pictures I wanted to get out into the country side a little, so I followed Main Street out of Rexburg. I found all kinds of interesting landscapes and still life to shoot. When I arrived back in Rexburg and was heading home I saw a really rich sun set in my rear view mirror. I took several pictures of the sun set with different adjustments to the exposure compensation. I will have to play around with these pictures again when I learn HDR. The other picture I took several years ago in Banff, the famous national park in Alberta, Canada (home).

Study In Color

1. Shop Front: 9/20/09; 4 p.m.; Downtown Rexburg; f5.6 1/125; MAXXUM 5D v1.00.

2. Paper Stand: 9/20/09; 4 p.m.; Downtown Rexburg; f5.6 1/80; MAXXUM 5D v1.00.

3. No Parking: 9/20/09; 3:45 p.m.; BYU-I Campus; f6.3 1/125; MAXXUM 5D v1.00.

4. Flower Bed: 9/20/09; 3:45 p.m.; BYU-I Campus; f6.3 1/125; ; MAXXUM 5D v1.00.

I decided to use the color red for this photo shoot because it is such a dominant and bright color. The last two pictures were taken with a shallow depth of field, in the manual mode, to give more contrast. I am new to photography, but I like the way these pictures turned out - it's a good beginning for me.

1. Original portrait taken at a country and western photography studio in Las Vegas, NV.

2. Portrait edited using the quick selection tool in Photoshop. I feathered the image and then gave it a slight drop shadow at a 90˚ angle.

3. I used the same edits on this portrait as I did on the second picture, except I only used a white background on the top part of the picture.

Each of the images were resized to 434x600 pixels.
